USS Curtiss (AV-4)
Biography
The USS Curtiss was commissioned on November 15, 1940 and was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. The USS Curtiss participated in several campaigns during the war, including the Guadalcanal-Tulagi landings, the capture and defense of Guadalcanal, the Gilbert Islands operation, and the consolidation of the Solomon Islands. Following World War II, the USS Curtiss was assigned to the occupation and China service and was decomissioned on September 24, 1957.
