Biography

The USS Argonaut was a submarine commissioned as the USS V-4 (SF-7) on April 2, 1928. It was renamed the USS Argonaut on February 19, 1932, and redesignated as a Minelayer Submarine (SM-1) on July 1, 1931. It was redesignated as a Transport Submarine (APS-1) on September 22, 1942, and was sunk by an aircraft depth charge and Japanese destroyers Isokaze and Maikaze on January 10, 1943. The USS Argonaut won two battle stars for her World War II service.
