The USS Samaritan (AH-10) was a hospital ship that served in World War II, originally commissioned as the transport ship USS Chaumont (AP-5). Recommissioned in March 1944 after conversion, she treated casualties from various Pacific campaigns, including the invasions of Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. The Samaritan received four battle stars for her World War II service, providing crucial medical support and evacuation for wounded soldiers in the Pacific Theater.
