Biography

During World War II, the United States established a comprehensive War Loan Organization to finance its military expenditures. The government launched a series of War Bond Drives, encouraging citizens to purchase war bonds—debt securities sold at 75 percent of face value—which raised approximately $150 billion between 1942 and 1945, supplementing increased taxes and helping to prevent inflation by channeling excess cash away from consumer spending.
