Biography
The USS Stevens (DD-479) was a Fletcher-class destroyer that served with distinction in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Commissioned in 1942, she participated in numerous operations, including the invasions of the Gilbert and Marshall Islands, Saipan, and the Philippines. The Stevens provided vital fire support, screened larger vessels, and survived multiple enemy attacks throughout the war.
