The 398th Bombardment Squadron was one of four squadrons assigned to the 504th Bombardment Group (Very Heavy). Operating Boeing B-29 Superfortresses from bases in the Mariana Islands, the squadron participated in strategic bombing campaigns against Japan during the final years of the Pacific War.
