Biography

Joseph Campbell Cronin (December 3, 1899 - June 13, 1972) graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1921. Cronin served as the Operations Officer, Chief of Staff at Kaneohe Bay Naval Air Station in Oahu, Hawaii, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. During World War II, Captain Cronin commanded the USS Tulagi (CVE-72) and was present on the USS Missouri during Japan's unconditional surrender. Cronin eventually retired from the U.S. Navy as a Rear Admiral.
