Scope and Contents
This box contains 19 large-format, matted photographs. Key locations featured include Kwajalein, Saipan, and the Philippines. The photographs depict various scenes, including naval vessels at sea and along coastlines, amphibious landings, embarkation procedures, and combat-damaged equipment. They also show preparations for invasions, with officers and servicemembers studying maps aboard ships. Several images capture life aboard the ship, featuring group prayer services and informal interactions with puppies. Other photographs document official ceremonies and personnel, such as Chief Petty Officer Seymour Hofstetter receiving the Navy Commendation Medal, as well as a Coast Guard watchman interacting with a captured mother and infant from Saipan. Additionally, some images showcase maneuvers along the San Diego coastline in 1942.
