Letters Between William H. Sager, Elizabeth Mopsik Sager, and Friends, January 13 - April 5, 1945
Scope and Contents
This folder contains 6 letters and 1 between William H. Sager, Elizabeth Mopsik Sager, and Jo, documenting personal, family, and wartime experiences during Sager’s overseas service. Jo’s letter provides home-front updates, including her reaction to William’s reassignment overseas, news of mutual acquaintances, and descriptions of her domestic life such as furnishing her home and attending social gatherings. The remaining materials consist of letters and a telegram from William to Elizabeth in which he discusses his daily life in military settings, including accommodations, meals, lectures on malarial control, administrative duties, and interactions with other officers. He frequently references mail delays, financial matters, and his anticipation of correspondence from home, while also expressing concern for Elizabeth and their daughter during pregnancy. Several letters include requests for personal items, reflections on military travel and assignments in locations such as Tripoli, and commentary on relationships with fellow service members and medical personnel. The telegram conveys a brief message of reassurance and affection.
