Scope and Contents

This folder contains 4 letters, 1 V-Mail, and four postcards between William H. Sager, his cousin Sophie, his parents, and other family members documenting wartime communication, family updates, and personal reflections during military service. The materials include three letters from William to Elizabeth, one letter from Sophie to William and Elizabeth, one letter from William to his parents, and one V-Mail from William to Elizabeth. William’s letters describe receiving mail, expressing affection for Elizabeth, and providing updates on his duties, living conditions, and travel, including mention of Marines landing on Iwo Jima and participation in local cultural events such as student performances.
