From J.W. Patrick to Mary
Scope and Contents
The Patrick Family Collection contains material related to James Walter Patrick, 1921-1973, and his wife Mary Jean Patrick, 1923-2010. Within the collection are letters and postcards sent from James to Mary while he was stationed in the Pacific Theater. The letters and postcards range from 1943-1945. The collection also contains memorabilia that was collected by James while at war. The memorabilia include notebooks with notes written by James, war department field manuals, a Pacific Theater war map, guides to the western pacific, an English-Hawaiian translation book, James's military file, and approximately 145 pictures from the war with a concentration on his time at Iwo Jima. The collection also contains a guide to Yokohama, a Japanese diary, and pictures of a Japanese solider. Lastly, the collection includes several Midpacifican newspapers as well as many clippings that the family had collected while James W. Patrick was away at war.
