Biography

William F. Halsey (1882–1959) was a U.S. Navy admiral during World War II, known as "Bull" Halsey. He commanded the South Pacific Area during the Solomon Islands campaign and later led the Third Fleet at the Battle of Leyte Gulf and through the war's end. He was one of four officers to attain the rank of five-star fleet admiral of the U.S. Navy.
