Biography
Vernon L. Thompson (1905-1986) was an American photographer who served in the United States Navy during World War II. Enlisting in August 1942, he was assigned to the Naval Photographic Unit under Commander Edward Steichen, where he processed photographs documenting the war, including images of the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor and early naval operations. Stationed in Washington, D.C., Thompson contributed to the Navy's photographic documentation program until his honorable discharge in September 1945. After the war, he resumed his career as a commercial photographer and remained active in the profession for many years.
