Biography

Richard W. “Dick" Ziegler was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on February 20, 1922, to Frederick and Agnes Ziegler of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. In 1940, Ziegler graduated from Fitchburg High School before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of Corporal. After an honorable discharge in 1946, Ziegler worked in radio broadcasting for 33 years before marrying his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Ziegler, and moving to Kissimmee, Florida, where he worked for Walt Disney World. Ziegler retired after 10 years of working as an engineer for the Walt Disney Railroad in the Magic Kingdom. Ziegler passed away on May 6, 2011, in Kissimmee, Florida.
