Biography

Jake Jenkins (1923-1992) was a radio operator with the 326th Search Light Battalion during World War II. Jenkins was drafted into the Air Force in 1943 and was discharged in 1946. Following the war, Jenkins attended the University of Arkansas on the GI Bill and was a distinguished graduate of its ROTC program. After Arkansas, Jenkins was commissioned back into the Air Force and would remain in service for the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Abstract

The Jake Jenkins Papers contain booklets, postcards, and photographs from Jenkins’s time as radio operator during World War II, where he spent time training in California, Michigan, and Texas. This collection also contains documents regarding Jenkin’s separation from the United States Army Air Force.
