Instructional, Administrative, and Research Materials
Scope and Contents
This sub-series comprises documents related to the instructional mission and administrative management of the Armored Force Replacement Training Center and the Armored School. Items include map-reading tests and evaluation materials produced by the General Instruction Department; memoranda on duties, discipline, promotions, and legal procedures; and operational documents describing the administration of welfare, facilities, and supply services. A substantial portion originates from the Research and Evaluation Division, including guides to research methodology, reading improvement, report writing, and committee procedures. The records also contain speeches by Major General C. L. Scott on training standards and organizational development, supported by statistical summaries and graphs. Additional materials include directories, campaign lists, correspondence to new selectees, and several historical studies produced by the Armored School, such as analyses of the 4th Armored Division in France and the defense of St. Vith. Photographs and maps supplement these studies.
