This folder contains include boards with signed materials from numerous individuals—among them George M. Holstein, Richard K. Sutherland, Stuart S. Murray, Frederick Drake, Edward Joseph Cummings, Lee Shaw, Lloyd D. Reid, Richard P. Powell, Richard J. Marshall, A.A. Fresco, George D. Moore, Frank John Barzenski, Matthew E. Slate, Lee DeVall Boyle, Herman Feldman, John M. Higgins, Richard E. Byrd, C.H. Hodges, Albert A. Bartholomew, John C. Truman, William T. Clement, Raymond M. Thompson, William F. Halsey, Hal A. Lamar, Chas P. Stivers, Charles A. Lockwood, Conrad E.L. Helfrich, Norbert C. Theobald, Roy S. Geiger, and many others. Also included are individual signed photographs, such as an autographed image of Vice Admiral James Smith Thach, a signed Life Magazine cover featuring Chester W. Nimitz, and a photograph of Captain Gilven M. Slonim with certification of his presence at the ceremony. The folder further contains photographs depicting key moments of the surrender, including Nimitz signing the Instrument of Surrender and senior officers approaching the signing table, as well as images of servicemen aboard the vessel, among them mass being held by Reverend Paul L. O’Connor and unidentified sailors on deck.
