Scope and Contents
This box contains 25 large-format, matted photographs. The images showcase servicemembers handling torpedoes on board vessels and manning anti-aircraft guns. They depict sailors performing shipboard duties, operating equipment, and observing through mounted binoculars. Additionally, there are photographs of groups of servicemembers conducting amphibious landings and unloading vehicles, barrels, and supplies onto beaches. The collection includes images of naval vessels, such as the USS Callaway, small amphibious landing craft (PA 42-27), attack transports, and docked ships. Other scenes reflect combat and post-combat situations, including a bombed radar tower on Kwajalein, damaged anti-aircraft guns, and war-torn landscapes. Lastly, photographs capture service members interacting, including artist Sandor Klein and a Coast Guard personnel inspecting battle damage, as well as boarding operations at Pearl Harbor. The locations represented in the photographs include Pearl Harbor, Kwajalein, and Angaur, as well as various shipboard and coastal settings.
