Abstract

The Seymour Hofstetter Collection comprises 56 large-format, matted photographic prints documenting U.S. Coast Guard and Navy activities during World War II, with an emphasis on naval operations and amphibious warfare in the Pacific Theater. An additional empty storage box with original belted straps and a plastic sleeve containing a blank note are also present.

Scope and Contents This box contains 25 large-format, matted photographs. The images showcase servicemembers handling torpedoes on board vessels and manning anti-aircraft guns. They depict sailors performing shipboard duties, operating equipment, and observing through mounted binoculars. Additionally, there are photographs of groups of servicemembers conducting amphibious landings and unloading vehicles, barrels, and supplies onto beaches.
