Pre-Strike Hiroshima Aerial Photograph, April 13, 1945
Scope and Contents
The Harold G. Bishop Collection contains aerial reconnaissance photographs of Hiroshima-shi, Kure-shi, and other locations in Japan, photographs of the F-13 "Poison Ivy" and its crew, and photographs of the Post Photographic Squadron. The reconnaissance photographs were taken before and after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the air raids on Kure. Other reconnaissance photos were taken during or after incendiary raids or air strikes on Osaka, Nino-Shima, and Hiroshima, Japan. The collection also includes several clippings, particularly about the war in Europe, and magazines published for servicemen.
