From Asa Porter to Family Members, 1941 - 1942
Scope and Contents
The Asa Porter Collection contains military documents, patches, guides for returning to civilian life, and letters that Asa sent to his family during the war as well as a transcript of all of Asa’s letters. The Asa Porter collection contains two notebooks, three patches, and two “Return to Civilian Life” guides. The collection also includes military documents such as speed limit cards, motor vehicle permits, selective service papers, honorable discharge papers, and veteran’s services paperwork. The bulk of the collection is letters that Asa sent to his family during the war, including a transcript that one of his sons typed up of all of the letters in a book format.
