Scope and Contents
Contains one black-and-white photograph, 20.5 x 25.3 cm, of the Japanese surrendering on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo, Japan. 1945. The reverse has handwritten notes that reads,
“Japanese surrender on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo, Japan, 1945. USS West Virginia BB-48 was present and should have been the ship used since it was sunk at Pearl Harbor and raised to fight again. / Note: Truman, president of the state of Missouri, was president then! / Columbus, Ohio / LT. Cmdr. E. M. Doran, USN / Commanding.”
