Scope and Contents
Color scans of pages a United States Sailor’s “Log and Diary” from June 23, 1944, to January 17, 1946. These photocopied journal pages provide brief entries on a semi-frequent basis on the events that occurred throughout the Asiatic-Pacific theatre. These events include Japanese suicide attacks, submarine encounters, arrival at major islands such as Iwo Jima or Okinawa, V-J Day, and the sailor’s eventual discharge from the United States Navy. Additionally, these journal pages mention whenever an enemy or allied vessel is either damaged or sunk in combat.
