Scope and Contents
The John W. Metcalf Photographs file contains photographs taken by Metcalf during his time with the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal in 1942. These images include him and his fellow soldiers posing in front of various structures such as an air raid shelter and destroyed Japanese ships. There are also images of a burial ceremony held for a fallen Marine.
