Abstract

The Seymour Hofstetter Collection comprises 56 large-format, matted photographic prints documenting U.S. Coast Guard and Navy activities during World War II, with an emphasis on naval operations and amphibious warfare in the Pacific Theater. An additional empty storage box with original belted straps and a plastic sleeve containing a blank note are also present.

Scope and Contents This box contains 12 large-format, matted photographs. Included are images of naval vessels and equipment, such as landing craft, a blimp, ship masts, anti-aircraft guns, and vessels at sea or anchored. Additionally, there are photos of amphibious and supply operations, including Coast Guard servicemembers unloading supplies and operating landing craft on Emirau Island, as well as military personnel at work, such as servicemen handling ropes, manning weapons, climbing ship masts, wearing...
