Scope and Contents
This folder contains a photo album containing 25 photographs and newspaper clippings collected by Lawrence Schain. The photos feature images of the Iwo Jima flag raising, Japan’s surrender aboard the USS Missouri, a B-25 Mitchell, the USS Cape Esperance, and soldiers preparing for and in the middle of battle. They also feature photos of a crashed Japanese airplane, the cloud from the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, and a political cartoon on veteran affairs. Personal momentos, like a photo of Schain with a handlebar mustache and birthday cakes, are also included. Additionally, this folder contains 3 photographs initially placed between the pages of the photo album and features images of the war in Europe.
