Philip Crosland Collection
Scope and Contents
The Philip Crosland collection contains photographs, military documents, holiday menus, Navy memorabilia, newsletters, a wooden postcard, and letters he sent to his mother while he was away at war in the Pacific. This includes twelve photographs, a multitude of military documents including special orders, ID cards, schedules, state department bulletins, discharge paperwork, a booklet on Navy jobs and their pay rates, training certificates, a letter from the Secretary of the Navy thanking him for his service, two USO maps and a set of Navy songs. The collection also includes a wooden postcard from the 1904 World's Fair, sixty-three letters Crosland wrote to his mother during the war, and five miscellaneous letters from friends and family.

Biographical / Historical
Philip F. Crosland served in the United States Navy during World War II. Crosland served in the Pacific during the war on the USS Astoria. In 1964, he married Dr. Ernestine Moore.
