World War, 1939-1945--Wake Island

The Danny Whatley Papers contain three World War II-era items related to the Pacific Theater, including a letter from Wake Island, a commemorative envelope signed by Charles W. Lindbergh, the first flag raiser on Iwo Jima, and a signed copy of Admiral Halsey’s Story.

The John Hendricks Papers include a letter Hendricks sent to Cecil Brandy, describing Wake Island two months before Pearl Harbor.

The John Murphy Collection contains one framed photograph, three large photographs, and a records book from 1942. These all pertain to John Murphy's time as a commanding officer on the USS Tambor.

The W. Earl Gallaher Collection contains Gallaher’s Flight Logbook and leather-bound scrapbook from his service in the Pacific War.
