The 303d Air Service Group Printed Works folder contains a copy of the July 4, 1945 edition of SURF, the newspaper produced by the Air Service Group while in Saipan. It also features a humorous letter from Captain Roy Tashnek, addressed to fellow dentists.

The USMC Saipan Photographs folder includes images of Marines who fought on Saipan during the Pacific war. Most photos show Marines in action or performing typical wartime tasks. Additionally, the folder features pictures of vehicles, boats, and aircraft.

The Roy Tashnek Service Records folder contains documents that Captain Tashnek collected during his federal service. This includes certificates, special orders, letters, promotion documentation, item lists, and payslips.

The Stanley A. Rothenberg Papers contain documents regarding Stanley A. Rothenberg and his time with the U.S. Navy during World War II. The collection includes a stenographer’s notebook, which Rothenberg used to write down communication codes and miscellaneous notes when he served as a radioman. This collection also features a letter from President Truman commending the service provided by those who served in the Armed Forces and a document that certifies Rothenberg’s honorable discharge.

The John W. Metcalf and Charles J. Neilson Collection contains items related to their distinct experiences with the United States Marine Corps. It includes photographs taken by Metcalf during his time with the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal in 1942. Additionally, the collection includes a memoir written by Neilson, who reflects on his journey to Vietnam in 1966 and general experiences he had while serving, also with the 1st Marine Division.

The John W. Metcalf Photographs file contains photographs taken by Metcalf during his time with the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal in 1942. These images include him and his fellow soldiers posing in front of various structures such as an air raid shelter and destroyed Japanese ships. There are also images of a burial ceremony held for a fallen Marine.

The Henry J. Cates Jr. Collection contains photographs regarding Technical Sergeant Henry J. Cates Jr. and his service as a Technical Sergeant of water purification for the 1307 Engineers. The photographs in the collection capture the various scenes TSgt. Cates encountered at Camp Claiborne during basic training. There are also several photographs of the 1307 Engineers’ camp in Milne Bay, New Guinea, and indigenous people that regularly interacted with the soldiers.
